Nissan Delivers with Delicious Food Truck Concepts

Ah, street vendors. Those were the days. Staring at questionable franks and greasy cheese-steaks will never be the same. The market is changing, and food trucks are all the rave on street corners, at sports events, and on college campuses. Just think, you can now purchase street food from a really nice vehicle instead of that cantankerous old street cart. Nissan recently showcased its new food truck concepts at the 2011 Auto Show. These food trucks feature work counters, custom fold-out serving windows, and full exterior graphics. The Grilled Cheese Truck and the Coolhaus [Ice Cream] Truck made their debuts with delicious fare in tow.
Food trucks are an integral piece of city life and have been featured in their own show on the Food Network. They are used to popularize several types of ethnic cuisine and to explore niche markets. The New York City Food Truck Association website comments," They stimulate culinary innovation, draw tourists, energize the streets and are an important part of the social fabric of the city."1 Nissan food trucks are electrically powered, much like the Nissan Leaf.
So, what makes these particular food trucks special? And, why is Nissan branching out into this market? Joe Castelli, Vice Preside of Commercial Vehicles and Fleet for Nissan North America explains the success of a previous food truck model that led to these current concepts, the Nissan NV van: "Since its introduction last spring, the Nissan NV van is proving itself in a wide range of commercial uses, from construction to delivery services, in both Standard Roof and High Roof body styles. The Nissan NV High Roof model is especially adaptable for food truck and catering use thanks to its 76.9-inch tall interior, which provides the flexibility for the mobile chefs to comfortably move around inside while creating their gastronomical delights."2
Nissan has found itself extremely successful in many markets, including niche markets like this one, and we at Coon Rapids Nissan expect that they will continue to do the same. The brand is also known for providing excellent service, much like the Nissan service center here at Coon Rapids. Call 763-205-7722 to give your vehicle some special treatment today.
