Nissan plans to offer their well-liked all electric hatchback Leaf worldwide. Pierre Loing, VP of product planning and zero-emission business at Nissan International, "believes zero-emission vehicles will account for 10 percent of global vehicle sales by 2020."1
Loing also foresees the Nissan Leaf capturing "a significant share" of the global market.
The Japanese automaker considers the Leaf as the first mass-market electric vehicle. By now, 15,000 total vehicles have been purchased globally (8,000 in America, 6,000 in Japan and 1,000 in Europe) since its late 2010 launch.
In addition Loing noted that the Japanese automaker has extremely high hopes for the completely electric hatchback, and is setting up a factory with maximum yearly capacity of 200,000 units. The automaker also plans on instituting a Leaf plant in the England, which will have a yearly capacity of 50,000 units.
The Japanese Automaker verifies that owning a Leaf is cheaper over the years than owning a gas or diesel powered car, truck or SUV.
