Next Nissan All-Electric Vehicle Will Soon Hit Market
The Nissan LEAF is currently the best-selling EV in the U.S., but that doesn't mean that Nissan interesting in expanding its EV offerings to even greater heights. Recently, the Japanese automaker announced it will soon be offering an all-electric version of its current Nissan NV200 van, a versatile van that has proven very popular around the world.
Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President of Nissan, talks about the new EV van: "The e-NV200 represents a genuine breakthrough in commercial vehicles. The new model will offer all the spaciousness, versatility and practicality of a traditionally powered compact van, but with zero CO2 emission at the point of use and also provide an outstanding driving experience that is unique to EVs."1
The new Nissan EV will achieve an EPA-certified fuel economy rating of 106 mpg in the city and has about a 100-mile electric range. The current Nissan NV200 van has aided businesses and community organizations in several different ways and in many diverse roles, even becoming NYC's exclusive Taxi of Tomorrow," and the electric version could prove even more adaptable. The new Nissan EV will hit production lines in 2013, though we can't yet be sure if it will find its way to the United States.
